OK, I'm waxing a bit lyrical here, but it's all true! Your fireplace is an important part of your home and deserves a bit of love.
I am a bit of a romantic about fireplaces, I loath the pretend plastic marbles and cast concrete monstrositys that infest the cheaper end of the fireplace market. It's such an insult to your home.
You do not have to spend a fortune on a decent fireplace either, for just a few pounds more than a crap veneered fireplace you can buy a real oak or mahogony or pine surround. Instead of saving a few pennies on composite resin marbles look at real marble! Not a lot more money and it's real!
Cast stone fireplaces may look good to start with, but they are just coloured concrete, and artificial marbles are merely poured plastic!

Moreover stone and marble fireplaces ( the real Kind) will be hand made by a single skilled craftsman. Not poured from a cement mixer into a mould.
A real stone or marble fireplace need not cost the earth.
A simple stone or marble design is yonk's better than a more ornate fireplace made from crud.
